Open your pool for summer

When the warm weather arrives, starting up your pool will help prevent the appearance of algae and micro-organisms Follow our step-by-step advice to start the season with peace of mind!

Summerize your pool in spring with ICO

When to reactivate your pool?

To determine when to restart your pool, the water temperature should be between 12°C and 15°C.

  • If you open your pool early in the season, use a cover and leave the filtration on until the first swims.
  • After the wintering period, it is common to find algae at the bottom of your pool, especially after passive wintering. Don't panic! We explain everything about algae, to get rid of them quickly and enjoy perfect water quality..

How to summerize your pool after winter?

Depending on the wintering method chosen at the end of the season (passive or active wintering), it is necessary to adapt the steps for restarting your pool.

Start up after a passive winterization(complete stop of your pool)

  1. Remove winter equipments :
    1. Cover: clean and dry the cover before storing it in a dry place
    2. Accessories: remove gizmos, floats and winterization plugs
    3. Equipment: replace the skimmer baskets, screw the adjustable jets into the outlets
  2. On the technical room
    1. Valves: Close the valves in the "intermediate" position and tighten the valve, filter and pump unions.
  3. Renew 1/3 of the water in your pool and level the pool water
    1. In order for the pump to operate, the water level must be raised to about ¾ of the skimmers.
    2. To keep your water healthy and comfortable, we recommend changing 1/3 of the water in your pool every year to eliminate micro-organisms and traces of chemicals.
  4. Turn on the filtration
    1. Close your filter's drain plug
    2. Replace the drain plug on your filtration pump
    3. Fill the pre-filter with water
    4. Replace and tighten the cap
    5. Open the valves in the equipment room and set the valve to filtration.
    6. Turn on the electrical box
    7. Turn on your equipment.
  5. Perform a deep clean in and around your pool
    1. Filter: descale and desand the filter, put new cartridges
    2. Pool: clean all the walls, the water line and the surface of the water to remove all the residues without forgetting the area around your pool
    3. Once the pool is clean, put back the accessories (ladder, diving board,...)
  6. Turn on your filtration system
    1. Run your filtration for about 48 hours to ensure that your water is healthy and crystal clear. Then, readjust the daily filtration time according to the temperature of your pool.
  7. Go to the next step: restart ICO.

Start up after an active winterization (the pool was working at idle with a bottom of water)

  1. Adjust the daily filtration time
    1. Remove the anti-frost floats
  2. Renew 1/3 of your pool's water
    1. To keep your water healthy and comfortable, we recommend changing 1/3 of the water in your pool every year to eliminate micro-organisms and traces of chemicals.
  3. Perform a deep clean in and around your pool
    1. Filter: descale and desand the filter, put new cartridges
    2. Pool: clean all the walls, the water line and the surface of the water to remove all the residues without forgetting the area around your pool
    3. Once the pool is clean, put back the accessories (ladders, diving board,...)
  4. Turn on your filtration system
    1. Step (optional): Do you have an automatic electrolysis treatment? When the water temperature has reached 15°C, adjust the salt level before restarting the unit.
    2. Run your filtration for about 48 hours to ensure that your water is healthy and crystal clear. Then, readjust the daily filtration time according to the temperature of your pool.
  5. Go to the next step: restart ICO.

Start a nice season with ICO !

In the spring, your ICO also needs to get back on track. Here are the steps:

  1. Activate and recharge the ICO battery
    1. Open your app and perform recommended updates
    2. Check the battery level of your ICO device. If necessary, connect your ICO to the power supply for 6 to 8 hours.
    3. The Updates to your application should be done before recharging your battery
    4. Select the active mode to begin water testing.
    5. Make sure notifications are turned on to get all the tips from ICO.
  2. Put ICO in the water during 12H
    1. After water treatment following passive wintering, put ICO back in the water for 12 hours and activate your ICO application to trigger the first measurements. You will receive measurements within minutes and the first recommendations will be sent to you after 6 measurements, i.e. 6 hours.
    2. After 12hours, follow step 3 to calibrate your probes
  3. Calibrate your ICO sensors
    1. This step is necessary at the beginning of each season to guarantee the quality of the measurements and to maintain your ICO.
    2. Remove ICO from the water, dry it with a soft cloth and proceed with the calibration of your probes
