Troubleshooting about Wi-Fi connection

This troubleshooting page is about Wi-Fi connection with your ICO device, and/or with your pool or spa environment.

Please read carefully questions and answers below. 

Connect ICO to your Wi-Fi Network 

How do I connect my ICO to the Wi-Fi network?

If you are new user of ICO,  you need first create your account from the ICO app.  Please follow these steps : 

(this process is detailed on the quick start guide included on your ICO BOX) 

  • Download the ICO app (choose Google play or Apple Store) from your mobile phone
  • Create your personal account 
  • Create your pool /spa profile
  • Enable Bluetooth connection to pairing with ICO from the remote control button
  • Scan the QRCODE inside the box with your phone 
  • Open the top lid and press 5 seconds the on/off button until it blinks green. Put the lid back on until you must hear the “clic” that guarantees the waterproofness.
  • Take off the sensor cap and the 3 black sensors protections. Once it’s done, put the cap on and place ICO on the water. 

To connect ICO to your Wi-FI network : 

  • Go on the settings of your ICO app: select ” Wi-Fi configuration” and follow instructions.

I can't see my Wi-Fi network on the list :
  • Check that your Wi-Fi network is up and running on your internet box or check the connection of another connected device to Wi-FI in your house (TV, PC, voice assistant,…).
  • From your ICO application, launch the automatic search for WiFi networks on settings by clicking on ” Wi-fi Configuration”
  • At the bottom of the list click on  “Other network” leading to manual entry
  • Enter the name of your home Network and enter your password. Validate.

IMPORTANT: If your Wi-Fi network still does not appear in the “other networks” list with and if your Wi-Fi network is up and running, your Wi-Fi connection may be using a 5GHz frequency which is not compatible with ICO. ICO is compliant with 2.4GHz networks only. You can confirm this information with your Internet service provider. Please contact your internet provider to change the frequency of your Wi-Fi network. Once it’s done, please refer to Set up ICO instructions.

Does ICO connect to Wi-fi under a cover or in a skimmer?

Resolve troubles with your Wi-Fi Network 

How can I test the quality of my Wi-Fi network ?

Test the quality of your Wi-Fi signal by standing at the location of your pool or spa with your smartphone.

  • Make sure you that you are at least 2 meters away from your ICO. Check that your Internet connection is working.
  • From your ICO application, go to the settings section, then click on the “connection test” button. Follow the instructions.

Successful Connection : Your ICO has successfully connected. What does this mean ?

  • Your ICO is connected to your routers Wi-Fi network.
  • Your ICO is communicating with the server through the Internet network.
  • You will receive first measurement within 1 hour, available on your ICO app.

Connection failed : If error icon appears : your ICO has not been able to communicate either with your router or with the server.

This error could be due to the following reasons :

  • Your ICO is switched OFF. Place ICO out of the water and Follow this vidéo starting from step 6  to turn it ON.
  • Check that you can access the Internet using your phone: on your mobile open the browser and try to oad our website www.ondilo.com. Check if the page loads properly.
  • Your Wi-Fi signal may using a 5GHz frequency not compliant with ICO and most of connected device. Please contact your Internet provider. The frequency of your Wi-Fi must be 2,45 GHz.
  • Check the position of your ICO
  • Your ICO is outside the reach of your Wi-Fi signal
  • Check that your ICO is turned on

If your Wi-Fi connection/signal is low, you need to expand your Wi-Fi coverage closed to your pool or spa so that ICO can connect to the Internet. Please visit our product page to find the network expansion solution you need.

I can see my network but the connection does not work
  • It may be due to a wrong password or a mistake in entering your password. Please repeat the procedure, respecting the capital letters, numbers or special characters, without adding spaces.
  • Check your ICO is turned on
  • This may be due to a low Wi-Fi signal strength. Please test the quality of your Wi-Fi signal by being at the location of your pool or spa.Make sure you that you are at least 2 meters away from your ICO. Check that your Internet connection is working : on your mobile open the browser and try and load our website www.ondilo.com. Check that the page loads properly.
  • Perform the following connection test: From your ICO application, go to the settings section, then click on the “connection test” button. Follow the instructions.

If the Wi-Fi connection test shows that your Wi-Fi signal strength is low (40% and below), you need to expand your Wi-Fi coverage near your pool or spa so that ICO can connect to the Internet. Please visit our product page to find the network expansion solution you need.

How can I improve / extend my Wi-FI Network in my garden?

The ICO application displays "error 14"

The “error 14” means your are connected on internet but ICO cannot connect to our server.

Please contact Ondilo customer support  . Prepare your UUID code located inside your ICO box or in your ICO application on the settings section (if you have already created your account on the application).

I frequently lose the network
  • The Wi-Fi signal reception may not be optimized for seamless connection of your ICO. Please refer to the Wi-Fi connection test in the page or go on the settings of your app. Click on ” WiFi connection test” and follow instructions. 
  • If you have scheduled your Wi-Fi to be off at certain times, this will also impact your ICO connection. However, ICO will continue to take hourly measurements and you will be able to find this datas in your application as soon as the connection is restored.
  • This may be due to the movement of ICO in the water, plus some areas may receiving less Wi-Fi signal. You can extend your Wi-Fi network to optimize your network coverage to your pool/spa. To reduce movement, some ICO users put ICO in a submerged net in the water, which they made. At Ondilo, we think this is pretty clever! 
  • If your ICO is positioned in the skimmer, under a cover or a flap, ICO may experience a slight loss of Wi-Fi reception. If you notice regular low connection or disconnection of ICO in these position, we recommend to extend your Wi-Fi network to optimize signal’s strengh.
