To offer you maximum flexibility, Ondilo provides an open API (Customer API) that allows you to connect your ICO smart water analyser to your home automation platforms. This guide explains how to make the most of this connectivity and set up your integrations step by step.
Important information regarding your login details
Before setting up any home automation, please ensure that your ICO is correctly configured and working properly on the official ICO mobile app.
Please note:
- For all API and home automation authentication, you must use the email address and password linked to your ICO mobile app.
- These login details may differ from those used to log in to the online shop on the Ondilo.com website.
Integration and bespoke configurations
If you wish to carry out a custom integration or develop your own script, you can refer to our official technical documentation. Our API is based on the secure OAuth2 protocol and allows you to retrieve all the water data for your swimming pool or spa (pH, temperature, redox, salinity), as well as ICO data (battery level, RSSI signal).

Step-by-step integration on Home Assistant
The Ondilo ICO integration is natively supported by Home Assistant. It automatically creates the device(s) and the associated entities (measurements)
Steps for configuring ICO on Home Assistant
- Log in to your Home Assistant dashboard.
- Go to the Settings > Devices and services menu.
- In the bottom right-hand corner of the screen, click the ‘Add integration’ button.

4. In the search bar, type ‘Ondilo ICO’ and select it.

5. A window will appear asking you to enter your ICO mobile app credentials to confirm the pairing.

The most common problem with Home Assistant
The Home Assistant integration is very stable, but the platform’s architecture means there are a few points to bear in mind.
Session has expired (Re-authentication required)
- Symptom: All sensors switch to ‘Unavailable’ status and a notification appears in Home Assistant asking you to reconnect.
- Symptom: All sensors show the status ‘Unavailable’, and a notification appears in Home Assistant prompting you to reconnect.
- Solution: There’s no need to remove the integration. Simply click ‘Reload’ on the Devices and Services page, and re-enter your ICO app credentials.
Special feature:
Entities disabled by default
- Depending on your ICO version (Chlorine/Bromine or Salt), certain entities such as TDS (total dissolved solids) may appear greyed out or disabled by default in Home Assistant to prevent overloading your system. In the list of entities, simply click on ‘Disabled entities’, click on the greyed-out entity, go to the cog (settings) and press the Enable button.
Step-by-step integration on Jeedom
Jeedom communicates with ICO via a dedicated plugin developed for the platform, making it easy to connect your devices.
Steps for configuring ICO on Jeedom
- Log in to your Jeedom dashboard.
- Go to the Plugins > Manage Plugins menu, then click on Market.
- Search for the keyword ‘Ondilo’ (or the tag ‘plugin-ondilo’) and install the plugin.
- Activate the plugin once the download is complete
- Go to the plugin’s settings page, click ‘Add’ to create your equipment, and enter your Ondilo ICO login details to automatically synchronise your pool data.

Most common problem
Jeedom offers complete control, but its reliance on internal scheduled tasks can sometimes cause issues.
Charts that stop (Cron hang)
- Symptom: The tile displays data that is several days out of date, even though the ICO mobile app is fully up to date.
- Reason: The Jeedom scheduling engine (the Cron system) has stopped, or the plugin encountered a network error whilst making a request.
- Solution: Go to Plugins > Plugin Management > Ondilo. Check that the status is green. If the data remains frozen, click the ‘Save’ button on the plugin page: this will properly restart the background tasks (cron15 and cron5).
Distinctive feature
Orphaned commands
If you change the physical sensors on your ICO (for example, replacing the pH probe), Jeedom may retain the old command as a duplicate. Remember to go to the ICO device settings, under the ‘Commands’ tab, to delete the old, redundant entry.
Step-by-step integration on eedomus
The eedomus box comes with a dedicated ICO device built in, allowing you to monitor everything centrally in a matter of moments.
Steps for configuring ICO on eedomus
- On the eedomus portal, go to Settings > Add or remove a device.
- Click on ‘Add another type of device’.
- From the list, select the ‘Ico pool sensor’ category, then click ‘Create’.
- Follow the on-screen instructions to link your account by entering your ICO app login details. This will allow the system to automatically retrieve your unique pool ID.
Customisation tip:
Once the device has been created, you can go to its settings to hide or disable any channels that do not apply to your pool (for example, the ‘Salt’ channel if you use chlorine or bromine for treatment).

Most common problem
The eedomus box prioritises simplicity, but this means there is less flexibility in the event of a graphical glitch.
‘Flat’ or empty curves
- Symptom: The widget displays the correct value, but when you click on it, the historical chart is either blank or flat.
- Reason: You are using the free eedomus service. The free history only retains data for the last 24 hours. If ICO has only sent a single reading during the day, the graph cannot plot a curve
- Solution: For comprehensive monitoring over several months, the eedomus Premium subscription (which stores data for 2 years) is highly recommended for use with ICO.
Special feature:
Compulsory account renewal
On eedomus, if the cloud authentication fails, the display may simply freeze without showing an explicit error message. The trick is to return to the eedomus web portal, open the ICO device settings, and click on ‘Re-link account’ to force the box to retrieve a new access token from Ondilo.
A smart swimming pool for complete peace of mind
Connecting your ICO smart water analyser to your home automation system could be the key to transforming the maintenance of your swimming pool or spa into a seamless, centralised and automated experience. By combining the accuracy of Ondilo’s analyses with the scripting power of your control hub (Home Assistant, Jeedom or eedomus), you can provide your pool with bespoke protection whilst optimising your energy consumption.
Although ICO’s battery-powered operation requires data to be refreshed at regular intervals (Cloud Polling), the gateways and plugins we have developed ensure reliable historical tracking and give you complete peace of mind on a day-to-day basis.
The user forums for Home Assistant, Jeedom and eedomus are very active. There you’ll find plenty of enthusiasts sharing examples of their visual boards and their best filtering scenarios.
