ICO Probe Calibration and Storage Kit

29,90

Regular calibration of the pH (blue) and ORP (orange: chlorine/bromine; yellow: salt) sensors ensures the reliability of the measurements. Storing the sensors in KCl solution optimises their performance. Therefore, both calibration and storage are essential for the reliability and longevity of the sensors.

The ICO calibration kit is compatible with ICO Pool and ICO Spa.

Calibration is used to correct measurement drift caused by normal wear and tear on the probe; therefore, it is not necessary to calibrate a new sensor. However, if you wish to ensure the accuracy of the measurement, you can carry out a calibration

After the first season, we recommend calibrating the sensors:

– seasonal use: every time you start up your swimming pool or spa

– For year-round use: every six months if you do not overwinter your plants

- or if you notice a drift in the measurements.

What is the calibration and storage kit?

The calibration and storage kit contains everything you need to calibrate and store the pH and ORP probes for your ICO. The calibration and storage kit contains 4 sachets of solution and 1 calibration stand.

The ICO connected water analyser is a measuring device. If it is not calibrated regularly, the pH and oxidation-reduction potential (ORP) readings may become inaccurate and drift over time, which could lead to the incorrect use of chemicals (overdosing or underdosing) and affect your swimming experience in your pool.

How do you calibrate pH and ORP probes?

Tips for calibration:

  • Perform the calibration in a room at room temperature (recommended temperature is 25°C / 77°F).
  • Place your ICO next to your smartphone
  • If you wish to carry out a full calibration, start with the pH calibration with the two solutions at pH 4 and pH 7, and then finish with the ORP calibration. This is because the ORP solution is acidic. If you start with the ORP calibration, it will interfere with the pH calibration.
  • Rinse the probes and calibration support thoroughly between 2 solutions. Dry carefully with a soft cloth.

Steps for calibration: The app guides you step by step

  • Turn on the ICO and connect it via Bluetooth. Rinse the probes.
  • Start by calibrating the pH probe
  • Pour the first pH 4 solution into the calibration holder. Place the ICO in it. The pH 4 measurement is taken.
  • Rinse and dry the base and probes of your ICO with a soft cloth.
  • Repeat the same procedure with the pH 7 solution.
  • Continue by calibrating the ORP probe in the same way.

We recommend that you keep the pH 4 and pH 7 solutions in two separate containers until the calibration has been validated, in case you need to recalibrate the instrument.

The calibration results

Once you have completed your calibrations, a message showing the result will appear with thethe date and readings of the most recent pH and ORP calibrations. These can also be viewed in the Settings/ICO section

FAQ on the ICO probe calibration and storage kit

Do you need to calibrate the pH and ORP probes on your ICO when using it for the first time?

No. The ICO is supplied ready for use, pre-loaded with calibrated probes.

As with any measuring instrument, it is necessary to calibrate the probes to ensure accurate measurements and maximise their service life.

We recommend calibrating the pH and ORP probes on your ICO:

– Seasonal use: each time you restart your pool. Calibration should not be carried out before winterising.

– annual use: every six months.

The pH probe is calibrated using buffer solutions at pH 4 and 7, and the ORP is calibrated using a 470 mV solution.

Faut-il calibrer une nouvelle sonde pH ou ORP lors de leur première utilisation ?

If you are replacing a pH or ORP probe with a new one, there is no need to calibrate it. However, you must reset the sensor in the app when you install it

Why do probes need to be stored in a KCl solution?

The reference electrodes (sensor bulbs) of the pH/ORP probes on ICO-connected water analysers must always be kept moist. They should be stored as follows: immersed in the storage solution (KCl solution) using the sponges, and protected with the black caps (sponges and black caps supplied with the product).
