Practice swimming in your pool

Whatever the size of your pool, it is possible to practice swimming thanks to the numerous equipments available on the market. Counter-current systems, swim bow, swim elastic, swim pole... Good news, there is something for every budget! Here are the different equipment solutions to enjoy your pool while doing sports.

Swimming on your private pool

Solutions for stationary swimming

There are several solutions for practising sport swimming, known as stationary swimming: the swimming arch, the swimming bungee or the swimming pole. These solutions are accessible to the smallest budgets.

Swim bow

The swimming arch can be used in all pools, in-ground or above-ground. It consists of :

  1. A rigid arch to be fixed to the edge of the pool, or to the underside of the inflatable pool,
  2. An elastic band that the swimmer (wearing a harness) attaches to his or her waist.

The swimmer is perfectly supported for stationary swimming. The bow allows you to maintain a horizontal position while remaining free to move. You can combine a swimming bow with a swimming elastic for even more sustained efforts to sculpt your body. Expect to pay between €40 and €120, depending on the quality of the harness, the robustness of the bow and the accessories included.

Swim elastic

Swim pole

Accessible to swimmers of all levels and ages, the swim pole helps you maintain a good horizontal balance and avoid sinking. To use it, simply :

  • Attach the telescopic pole to a fixed point outside the pool
  • Attach the other end of the swim pole around your waist with a ring attached to a belt.

Prices range from €60 to €150, depending on length, quality of materials and fixing system.

Counter-current systems

The market for counter-current swimming solutions is booming, and they are attracting more and more customers. There are two categories of system on offer:

  • Nozzles : conventional counter-current swimming systems incorporate pumps and delivery nozzles and can be either outboard or inboard. The principle is that the water is sucked in through one nozzle, then discharged through another. The intensity of the water flow is adjustable, so you can also enjoy a massage session in the water. Prices range from €1,000 to €4,000, depending on power, type of installation and brand.

To conclude

You don't need an Olympic-sized pool to practice swimming at home! Whatever your sporting expectations (learning to swim perfectly), many systems are accessible. Be careful, however, to maintain a balanced water level because yes, we sweat in water! A daily practice of swimming in your pool will have an impact on the quality of your water.
