Summering your pool

remettre-en-route-piscine

Follow our step-by-step advice to start the season with peace of mind!

When to summerize your pool ?

Once your water temperature gets above 12°C, it is time to put your pool back in action to avoid the appearance of algae and other micro-organisms at the start of the season.

If you open your pool early in the season, use a cover and leave the filtration ON until the first swim times.

√ After the winterization period, it is common to find algae on the bottom of your pool, especially a passive winterization. No problem ! We explain everything about algae to get rid of it quickly and enjoy a perfect water quality: Algae and my pool

ACTIVE WINTERIZATION

Your pool has been idling during the winter
with the water level maintained below 12° C

STEPS TO TAKE AFTER AN ACTIVE WINTERING
  • Step 1: Adjust the daily filtration time according to the temperature of your pond.
  • Remove the anti-frost floats
  • Step 2: Change 1/3 of the water in your pond
  • To keep your pond water healthy and comfortable, we recommend changing 1/3 of the water in your pond each year to eliminate micro-organisms and chemical traces.
  • Step 3: Do a thorough cleaning in and around your pool!
  • Filter: descale and desand the filter, put new cartridges
  • Pool: clean all the walls, the water line and the surface of the water to remove all the residues without forgetting the area around your pool
  • Once the pool is clean, put back the accessories (ladders, diving board,…)
  • Step (optional): Do you have an automatic electrolysis treatment? When the water temperature has reached 15°C (59°F) adjust the salt level before restarting the device
  • Srep 4 : Run your filtration system for about 48 hours so that your water is healthy and crystal clear. Then readjust the daily filtration time according to the temperature of your pool.

Proceed to the next step: Restart ICO

PASSIVE WINTERIZATION

Your pool was completely standstill during winter time

STEPS TO TAKE AFTER A PASSIVE WINTERING
  • Step 1: Remove the winter equipment
  • Cover: clean and dry the cover before storing it in a dry place
  • Accessories: remove gizmos, floats and winterization plugs
  • Equipment: replace the skimmer baskets, screw the adjustable jets into the outlets
  • Step 2 : Technical room
Valves: close the valves in the “intermediate” position and tighten the unions of the valves, the filter and the pump.
  • Step 3: change 1/3 of the water and level the pool water
In order for the pump to operate, the water level must be raised to within ¾ of the skimmers.
  • To keep your water healthy and comfortable, we recommend changing 1/3 of the water in your pool each year to eliminate micro-organisms and traces of chemicals.
  • Step 4 :
  • Close the drain plug of your filter.
  • Replace the drain plug of your filtration pump
  • Fill the pre-filter with water
  • Replace and tighten the cover.
  • Open the valves in the technical room and set the valve to filtration.
  • Turn on the electrical box.
  • Turn on your equipment.
  • Step 5: Do a thorough cleaning in and around your pool!
  • Filter: descale and clean the filter, put in new cartridges
  • Pool: clean all the walls, the water line and the surface of the water to remove all residues without forgetting the area around your pool.
  • Once the pool is clean, put back the accessories (ladders, diving board,…)
  • Step 6 : Run your filtration for about 48 hours to ensure that your water is healthy and crystal clear. Then, readjust the daily filtration time according to the temperature of your pool.
  • Go to the next step: Restart ICO.

IMMERSE ICO IN THE POOL 12H

After the shock treatment of the water (following a passive wintering), put ICO back in the water for 12 hours and activate your ICO application to trigger the first measurements. You will receive measurements in the next few minutes and the first recommendations after 6 measurements, that is 6 hours.

After 12 hours, go to step 3 to calibrate your probes.
